Night view

It looks so tranquil...appearances can be sooo deceiving...

Door hardware

Here is a sample of our door hardware. We went with oil rubbed bronze. Ian doesn't see the big deal with the oil rubbed bronze, but I love it! I just want to say that all of these knobs and such were installed while someone was in Mississippi...

Cabinents arrive!

All the way from Alabama, here are the cabinents! At first we didn't believe they would all fit in the space available.

We got started and were doing pretty well setting the cabinents...until the electrical problems...we eventually got it sorted out.

Here are the pieces of the island...

Getting closer...

The view from the stairs.

Away with the port-o-potty!

Finally! We have a working toilet and sink, running water and all. This was step one to the temporary occupancy permit. Step two was electric which did get connected earlier this week. We received our temporary OP yesterday, just short of four months after breaking ground...not bad. The bad news is that this is the only running water we will have (i.e. no showers) which might become a problem come Wednesday when our much awaited guests arrive...

Tile...albeit dirty...

Here is a picture of our -dirty- bathroom shower surround tile. Most of these pictures were taken before the grout was cleaned off.

We decided to go with mulitcolor slate on the front porch. You can see the pattern a little in this shot. It was finished yesterday and looks awesome!

Here is the Master bath tile. Again, dirty, but we're doing our best!

The Master

Ian informed me a few months ago that the master bath would be blue. So, we decided to make the whole master blue since it is all interconnected. This color has an incredibly ingenious name...Just Blue.

Below is the variation we did on the ceiling. It looks really awesome when you walk into the room.

Paint before Floors

The interior paint color was a difficult decision. You know, we are going for the beach house feel, but want to keep the interior slightly more neutral than the outside (shouldn't be too hard, mind you). The color was choosen based on the granite we decided we liked -and could afford- so the winner was: Primitive Green. The main interior walls (kitchen/living, hallways, stairwell, etc) are all this color. The bedrooms are one shade lighter -Celery Bunch- and the ceilings one shade lighter yet - Daiquiri (the most appropriate for our house). For the bathrooms we actually went one shade darker -tropical forest, but I don't have any photos of them yet.

Here is the bedroom color...

And last but not least, the floors! They made for a tiring Memorial Day weekend, but they are almost complete. We ran out of material (mostly because I decided to do more than originally anticipated) so we had to take a break and wait for more to arrive.

V-Grove

It's always nice to add a little detail! We decided to do the exterior porch ceilings in this 1x6 v-grove material. We are going to stain it...although we're not quite sure yet what color will best compliment the tangerine (if any ;-). Below, you can see the v-grove on the front porch.
